Welcome to the first entry of my Body/Antibody Production Diary. What is a production diary? Well, it's a blog, basically. But look, I'm 31 years old, I'm crotchety, I'm set in my ways, and I just don't get the whole "blog" thing. Reading some random person's daily yabber? What's the point? So I can't call it a blog. I can't call myself a blogger.
Jordan, my partner on Body/Antibody, loves blogging. He's the type of guy who loves to tell the world about his day and what movies he's watching, and that's great for him. He's a modern guy. (See jordanhoffman.com for proof.) But me, I don't think in blog. (Not to sound snobby -- it's not like I think in sonnet or something. I just don't think in blog.)
But anyway, let's face it, this production diary is basically a blog. So, if and when I'm up to it, I'm going to periodically throw down what's going on with the production of Body/Antibody, and hopefully a year from now I'll have a nice historical document that I, if no one else, will enjoy looking back on.
So where are we now with production? Casting, looking for our "Kip" character ... our leading man, someone handsome and sexy but possibly a little strange. We're tweaking the script -- as we'll probably do right up until production -- currently simplifying some of the craziness that transpires in the third act. And, uh, that's kind of it. We're in preproduction, so there's no anecdotes yet, no production photos.
But stand by. Hopefully as the months wear on there'll be some interesting stuff to report, and some pictures to go with it. We'll see. Or, the production diary could be an utter failure that no one will ever read.
Time will tell. Anyway, gotta get back to what I was doing. Page 66 needs tweaking, and I have some revisions on some budget line items ... Talk to you later.
