Woohoo! Previsualization Software! Jan 26, 2006 at 12:03AM

Just got my copy of FrameForge3D version 2, hot off the presses. Very exciting stuff. A crazy 3D world where I can create storyboards. I'm already playing with it and having a great time. Hell, I already storyboarded the first scene of the script (which only has one shot, but whatever)!

Definitely appreciated the need for previsualizing after I showed up for most days of the Ultrachrist! shoot completely unprepared. I guess I thought winging it would add spontaneity and give it a cool verite edge, but actually it just meant that I call every scene as "I think this one should be a simple shot/reverse shot. With coverage." The good news is, the script was so underbaked (thing 2 that we're trying to do right this time) that shot/reverse shot was virtually demanded by the text ("set-up/joke, set-up/joke is the literary equivalent of shot/reverse shot, I reckon").

Anyway, this time we're planning ahead, and storyboarding the whole damn thing. And it's so much fun! I love all the cool software I get to play with to make movies ...
