Storyboarding is Fun! Feb 13, 2006 at 3:08PM

An unsolicited testimonial for Frameforge3D, version 2. A very cool product that's been eating up most of my time the past couple of weeks. I'm planning to storyboard the whole damn movie over the next few months using this product, and so far, things are going damned well. I've pretty much done everything not in our main location (I gotta get to that location and take measurements!), and I must say: 3D sets and actors rule. Their performances may lack subtlety, but they do exactly what you want without question ... it's a pleasure.

Here are some samples of boards I created. The software even supports depth of field (which you can kind of see in the curtain in the first one):

Awesome, right?? That first one is what our hero, Kip, sees looking out his window one lonely evening. That second one is a big dramatic scene involving Kip (unseen) and his girl Celine and her ex-boyfriend Andy (who's so, so mean)!

We're still in the process of casting Andy, so I can't say that the guy we cast will actually look like that, but still ... he's a mean looking mother, ain't he?

Anyway, casting is a whole other issue ... we've done a little, but the "big" casting days are yet to come. I'll keep you posted ...
